

Norma Jean Jones, known to family and friends as Jeannie, (formerly of Western Springs, Illinois and Placerville, California) passed away Thursday April 18, 2013 in her Davenport, Iowa home at the age of 80. Memorial services are planned for 10:00 AM June 8, 2013 at the Western Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Estates in Lemont, IL. Norma Jean was born January 3, 1933 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Norman and Alfreda (Johnson) Kiesow. She married Earl Warren “Nick” Jones August 25, 1951 in Clarendon Hills, IL and spent her first three years as a Navy wife, before accompanying Nick, to Rochester, New York as he pursued his degree in graphic design. Jeannie moved numerous times spending many years in Western Springs, Illinois, and retiring to Placerville, California. After her husband passed, Jeannie spent quality time with each of her children and grandchildren, and graced their lives with her optimistic personality and gentle wisdom.
Jeannie earned her license as a practical nurse from Hinsdale Hospital in Illinois after her children were grown, and after relocating to California, worked as a home health nurse. Her many gifts include technology, sewing and crafts, entertaining, and reading. She loved the Lord and served Him in many capacities through her kindness and giving spirit.
Norma Jean is survived by her four children: Leona Rae Jones (Deb), Donn Wesley Jones (Betty), Verne Thomas Jones (Nancy), and Mark Warren Jones (Susie). Additionally, she was much loved and will be fondly remembered by ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents Norman and Alfreda Kiesow, and her husband, Earl Warren Jones.
