

Patty was born November 30th, 1933, in Davenport, Iowa to Chester and Violet (Seitz) Mainwaring. She was a graduate of Saint Katharine’s School, Davenport and later attended both the University of Wisconsin, Madison and Augustana College, Rock Island, IL.
On June 25, 1955 she married Harold Rayburn in Davenport, IA. Their early married life was spent in San Antonio, TX and Fairbanks, AK, following Harold’s Air Force duties. In 1958 they moved to Bettendorf, Iowa where, together, they raised three children, Chris, Julie and Tim. They were married 63 years until the time of Harold’s passing.
Mrs. Rayburn was a founding member of St Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bettendorf. She was also an active member of her sorority, Delta, Delta, Delta, and involved in both Boy and Girl Scouts and the young lives of her children.
Patty had a strong and abiding passion for all things nature. She spent many summers at her family’s cabin in northern Wisconsin and had a deep understanding and love for its animals and plants. Many walks in the woods were spent sharing this love with her children, nieces, and grandchildren. This lifelong learning also extended to the beaches of Ft Myers Beach, FL and the Pacific Northwest surrounding Kirkland, WA, both of which she also called home.
Patty was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and especially loved spending time with her family. She was known for her knitting, hand work and crafts.
Mrs. Rayburn was preceded in death by her husband Harold. She is survived by her son Chris Rayburn (Mary) of Davenport, IA, daughter Julie McClure (Randy) of Lewiston, ID, son Tim Rayburn (Courtney) of Kirkland, WA, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Condolences can be made to Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. A memorial honoring Mrs. Rayburn’s life is being planned for May 6th at St Peter’s Episcopal Church, Bettendorf.
