A funeral service will be held at 12:00, Friday, December 14, 2018, at the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport, with visitation at 11:00. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Handicapped Development Center.
Joanie was born in Fort Madison on February 3, 1931, to Ira and Ruth (Gray) Adkins. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Reid, on June 25, 1950, in Farmington. The couple loved to travel together, Arizona, Europe and Ireland.
Joanie surrounded herself with beauty. She loved color. Her home was a masterpiece. She was very artistic, enjoying painting and decorating. She was detailed and strived for perfection. Joanie also loved vintage items enjoying Goodwill, garage sales, antique shops and auctions. An amazing cook, Joanie was famous for her biscuits and gravy. She loved sweets, especially chocolate.
Joanie cherished her family and was always there for them. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a kind person and loyal friend.
Those surviving to honor her memory include her children, Kevin (Rose) Reid, and Karinda (Kevin) Richard; grandchildren, Joseph and Jared Richard; brother, Roger (Nedra) Adkins, loving sister, Diane Reid Peterson; cousin, Lana T. Gray Anthony and very special nieces and nephews.
Preceding Joanie in death were her parents, husband of 66 years, Kenneth, and a sister, Iris Ruth Adkins Ufkes.
