Peggy was born in Davenport, Iowa, on October 16, 1947, to Talbert Tilford and Margaret Aurelia (McDermott) Taylor. At age eleven, she moved with her family into the home they built on 36th Street in Moline, Illinois. She spent her formative years boating with her family and developed a lifelong love of the Mississippi River.
Peggy graduated from Moline High School in 1965. She studied art at Black Hawk College and later earned an associate degree from Elgin Community College. She worked in office support roles in the banking industry and at building material suppliers in the Elgin, Illinois area. Earlier in life, she helped copy blueprints for her family’s business, Taylor Heating and Sheet Metal, an experience that served her well in her later work in the building materials industry.
Peggy was a longtime resident of Hampshire, Illinois, where she raised her two daughters, Heather and Holly, in her home on High Avenue. In 2015, she moved to Maple Grove, Minnesota, to be closer to her beloved grandson, Evan Podgorski. She enjoyed sharing her love of art, riverboats, and cookies with him.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Talbert “Tab” and Margaret “Peg” Taylor, and her brother, Charles T. Taylor. She is survived by her daughters, Heather (Christopher) Podgorski, M.D., of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and Holly (Ryan) Lindsay of Brentwood, California; her grandson, Evan Podgorski; her grand-puppies and many extended family members and cherished friends.
A brunch in her honor will be held at Rush Creek Golf Course in Maple Grove, Minnesota on Thursday October 29th at 10:00. Her committal service will be held at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery mausoleum in Davenport, Iowa on Saturday, October 31st, at 11:00 a.m., with lunch to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org), or Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance (mnovarian.org).
Those who knew her will greatly miss her sweet, brave, and whimsical spirit.
