Phyllis was born July 31, 1935 in Davenport, the daughter of Ralph and Martha (Perkins) McKown. Above all, Phyllis was a wonderful mother and grandmother and a selfless and generous friend and confidante to many, and her kind and giving nature was apparent in everything she did. She took great pride in her children and in watching and helping her granddaughter Carley grow. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church with her daughter, Suzanne and her granddaughter. Phyllis worked for many years in the supply department at the Rock Island Arsenal prior to her retirement. She was a member of CASI and volunteered for the child abuse hotline. Her years living overseas in Panama inspired her love of travel and appreciation of other places and people. Phyllis will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Those left to honor her memory include her children: Jeff (Edie) Clark, Scott Clark, Suzanne (Roy) Yoder, granddaughter Carley, long-time partner David Ochs, former husband John Clark, and the extended Clark Family. Special friends: Cheryl Hesse, Joy Duex and Susie Sunleaf, the Helpline Ladies; John and Wendy Harn, and Karen and Harry Lamb. Her parents preceded her in death.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nursing staff on the third and sixth floor at Genesis West and the staff at Clarissa Cook for the loving care and kindness shown to Phyllis and her family during her illness. Your thoughtfulness will not be forgotten!
