Phyllis was born on September 13, 1927, the daughter of Walter and Amanda (Bruhn) Kistenmacher. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1945 and married Myron John Swanson in1948. They celebrated 67 wonderful years of marriage. Phyllis worked at Neuman’s Department Store in downtown Davenport during her high school years and then at the former Davenport Bank and Trust Company before she became a stay-at-home mother. In earlier years she enjoyed ballroom dancing at the Col Ballroom and other local dance clubs. She loved playing cards and cherished the friendships she made in the card clubs she was involved in for nearly 60 years, most recently at the Elks on Tuesdays. Phyllis especially enjoyed her weekly visits to Sharon’s Styling Studio for over 50 years. She loved planning holiday parties for her family and friends. She often said her best time of day was at 4:00 “happy hour” with Myron and her family, laughing and solving the world’s problems around the kitchen table. Phyllis was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and the Davenport Elk Lodge. Survivors include her husband, Myron; children and spouses, Tom and Lisa Swanson, Ron and Kelly Swanson, Kathy and Matt Kolar and Nancy Swanson, all of Davenport; grandchildren and spouses, Nick and Kristie Swanson, Jim and Morgan Swanson, Lindsey and Chris Robb, Chelsea Maddox, Allyson Hinrichs and Kaitlyn Swanson; great grandchildren, Laney, Tyler and William Robb, Crue and Chloe Maddox and Henry and Tommy Swanson; sister-in-law, Gayle Klipping and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
