Qua Thi Nguyen, 83, of Davenport, a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday September 2, 2026. A funeral ceremony will be held from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at The Runge Mortuary in Davenport, IA. Memorial donations may be directed to the family.
Qua was born in 1943 in Vietnam to Doi and Soc Nguyen. In 1986, to give her children a brighter future, Qua, who did not speak English and barely had any money, immigrated to America as a single mother with three daughters who meant everything to her. Qua embraced the new world with hopes and dreams. She worked diligently at a bakery, a clothing company, and a casino. Although Qua was a hard-worker and respected by her colleagues, her primary job was being a devoted mother to her daughters. Maneuvering the roles of both a father and mother, Qua ruled with an iron fist but had a heart of gold. Qua embraced life with vigor, dignity, passion and love, and one of her favorite things to say was, “I’ll be okay.” To her daughters and grandchildren, Qua will always be remembered as a fierce woman with strength, resilience and love.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three daughters; Lisa (Robert) Nguyen, Loan (Bobby) Bermudez, and Viviane (Teresa) Nguyen; brother, Xuan Nguyen and his family; grandchildren; Bobby, Jeannie (Fred), Linda (Patrick), Jimmy, Carlos (April), Hailey, and Logan, and great grandchildren; Paisley, Zoey, Jio, Juli, and Jo-jo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
