I met Randall and Nellie when I was 10 years old in 1973 as his paperboy.  We would become life long friends for the next 48 years! At 17 I joined the Marines and served the next 30 years in the Corps. 

Any time I came home on leave I would spend 2-3 hours visiting with Randall. He and I talked on the phone in between these times. He always sent me a Veterans Day card, and birthday card. We spoke about everything, from current events, WWII and my service in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I flew a flag over the Combat operations center in honor of his service when I served as the Operations Chief of Regimental Combat Team-6, as a MGySgt., then presented it to him which he displayed proudly. 

He was a very humble and great human being! I was fortunate to be connected with his cousin Don and Stacy from his family who over saw his affairs. So when learning of his passing, I was  fortunate to drive to Iowa and say my final good-byes to my dear friend, help fold his flag, and present it to his family on behalf of our nation for Randall’s service in WWII.  I will forever be grateful to his family, and it was my honor and privilege to call him my friend! RIP Warrior! Semper Fi! MGySgt/Marines/Retired

I met Randall several years ago. He was Norma Brandt's brother.  When I came back home to visit friends and family I would always stop in and visit Randall. I bet you all did not know that Randall was an Alabama football 🏈 fan and that he loved coach Nick Saban. Since my husband, Rick & I live in Alabama I always brought Randall Alabama shirts, a cap, visor and an Alabama pen. He loved it. We would always talk about how great the Crimson Tide football 🏈 players were. Also, Randall took good care of his sister, Norma. When she was unable to live on her own Randall  placed her in Ridgecrest and paid for her care. Randall was a wonderful man. God Bless Him...May he Rest In Peace!
