Richard A. Duffek

Richard (Rick) Duffek, 61, of Davenport passed way Thursday, December 30 2010 at his home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with cancer. Cremation will be done with a memorial service 10:00AM Tuesday (1/4) at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Davenport. Inurnment will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 4-8PM at the Runge Mortuary & Crematory. Memorials may be made to Gilda’s Club of the Quad Cities. On line condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.com .

Rick was born September 19, 1949 in Rapid City, SD to Raymond & Mary Ann (Hughes) Duffek. The family later moved to Sioux Falls, SD where he met and married Nancy Seiders on September 30, 1972. Rick served his country in the Army National Guard from 1968 to 1974.

After 32 years working for Roadway Express, Rick retired in 2004. For the last 5 years he worked beside many friends at Standard Forwarding Company in East Moline, IL. Rick loved working, traveling, the Iowa Hawkeyes, hunting, fishing, golfing, nature, telling stories, and most of all his family & friends. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife Nancy, Davenport; 2 sons Matt (Teresa) Duffek, Geneseo, IL, and Ryan Duffek, Davenport, IA; Daughter Holly (Bill) Fascher, Davenport, IA; sister Mary (Dick) Baird, Sioux Falls, SD; Brother Tom (Linda) Duffek, Omaha, NE; 4 beautiful grandchildren Isaiah, Hunter, Abram, & Presley. Rick was preceded in death by his father Raymond Duffek and mother Mary Ann Duffek.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mercer and his wonderful staff for the care, kindness, & compassion they gave Rick.
