Richard V. Fell

Funeral services for Richard V. Fell, 81, of Viola, IL, will be held at 12 noon on Monday, July 18, 2011 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary chapel in Davenport, IA. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the mortuary. Interment will be held at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL. Mr. Fell passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Richard Viering Fell was born in Sterling, IL on October 10, 1929, the son of Roy and Helen (Viering) Fell. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On July 17, 1978 he married Carol Cash in Las Vegas, NV. She preceded him in death in 1998. Mr. Fell was a barber at Ziegler’s Barbershop for many years; however, he later worked as a postal clerk for the Rock Island Post Office until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Viola, IL. He is survived by four daughters: Niki Akin of Davenport, IA, Nancy Cash of North Henderson, IL, Christine Fowler of Alexis, IL, Linda (Dave) Wassell-Stagg of Port Byron, IL; a son: Rick (Kelly) Wassell of Port Byron, IL; a brother: Roy Fell of Bettendorf, IA; seven grandchildren: Nicholas Akin and Amanda Akin, both of Davenport, IA, Paige Garrett and Drew Garrett, both of North Henderson, IL, Bill (Jenna Zefo) Benson of Monmouth, IL, Nicole Cash of Woodhull, IL, Jennifer Mettler of Laura, IL. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leo. Memorials may be directed to the United Presbyterian Church in Viola, IL.
