Richard M. Hensel

Memorial services for Richard 'Dick' M. Hensel, 83, of Davenport will be held at noon on Thursday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary chapel, Davenport. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the mortuary. Inurnment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted. Mr. Hensel passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Manor Care - Utica Ridge, Davenport. Richard Merrill Hensel was born on August 2, 1930 in Clinton, IA, the son of Eric and Myrtle (Munson) Hensel. He served as a Machinist Mate 1st Class in the United States Navy for four years. In 1952, he married Mary Ann Marks in Lyons, IA. She preceded him in death in 2003. Mr. Hensel owned and operated Dick Hensel Realty in Davenport. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. He is survived by a Daughter: Terri (Tom) Miller of Davenport; a Son: Jim (Kate Gould) Hensel of Chicago; 7 Grandchildren: Valerie Miller, Lee Miller, Kate (Dr. Eshan) Sapra, Kevin Miller, Victoria Hensel, Mark Hensel, Elizabeth Hensel; four Great-grandchildren: Brock, Cody, Ava, Isabella; two Sisters: Jan (Mike) Krueger of Waterloo, IA, Joanne Hensel of Dallas, TX; two Brothers: George (Barb) Hensel of Indianapolis, IN, Tom (Judy) Hensel of Sabula, IA; Brothers and Sisters-in-Law: Virginia (Randy) Randone of Davenport, Josh (Jeannine) Marks of Atlanta, GA, Lew Throessel of Marshalltown, IA. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Elfreda Hensel, and a brother, Eric Hensel. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the educational fund set up for his grandchildren.
