

Richard “Dick” McKee, 79, of Davenport passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. “He took no prisoners” to the end. A memorial Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Runge Mortuary. In honor of Dick’s memory please wear your favorite sports team attire. A private family burial will be held at Davenport Memorial Park immediately following the visitation. Memorials may be left to the University of Iowa Foundation for Cancer Research. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Richard was born February 17, 1938 in Davenport, IA to Charles and Mary (Logan) McKee. He married Sandra Vens on April 27, 1963 in Davenport, IA. Upon Graduation from Davenport High School in 1956 he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs. He played in the Minor League System playing with names like Billy Williams and Ron Santo. Richard began his career as a Davenport Police Officer after 10 years he took a job at John Deere working security. He later retired from the purchasing Department in 2000. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, dad and grandfather.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandy; children, Michael (Shari) McKee, Stacey (Ed) Johnson and Thomas McKee; grandchildren: Ashley, Jacob and Taylor McKee, Trey, Teyt and Tyce Johnson; step grandsons: Jeremy Turner and Daniel Milburn and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents Richard was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Bob.
