

Richard J. Thompson, 78, of Davenport passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Davenport Lutheran Home. Following cremation, there will be a private family service. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.com.
He was born June 4, 1933 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Jack and Gladys (Earles) Thompson and was raised in Maquoketa. He served two years in the US Air Force as an MP in England.
Mr. Thompson was formerly employed by Bendix Aviation in Davenport, John Deere in East Moline, and retired from W.G. Block in Davenport. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Janice; stepchildren: Kevin (Mary) Broders, Brenda (Rob) Lorenz, and Scott (Anna) Broders; grandchildren Phoenix Paintin, Tyler Broders, Lindsey Broders, and Jack Lorenz; children from a previous marriage: Julie, John, Rick, Donna, Danny, and Steve, along with a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
