Robert Lee Barth

Robert L. Barth, 79, of Davenport passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in the comfort of his home at Bickford Cottage, Davenport. Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm on Monday, July 3, 2017 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be one hour before. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Scott County Humane Society or the American Alzheimer’s Association. Online tributes and condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Bob was born January 25, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN a son of Russell and Esther (Turner) Barth. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1962. He worked for over 20 years at Caterpillar, later retiring from the RIA after 17 yrs of service. He was united in marriage to Patricia A. DePooter on July 26, 1969 in Davenport. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2017. Robert loved flying airplanes, fishing, and volunteering at Arrowhead Ranch, Coal Valley, IL where he tutored students in math. He loved spending time with his family and adored animals. Bob worked on the reunion committee at Muscatine High School. Those left to honor his memory include his brothers and sisters-in-law: Ed (Dolores) DePooter, Bettendorf and David (Jaylene) DePooter, LeeSummitt, MO; nieces and nephews: Sheree Hand, Moline, Steve DePooter, Davenport, Karen Schafer, Blue Grass and Lynn Francisco, Bettendorf; cousins: Jim (Joann) Barth, St. Louis, Linda Maas, Muscatine, Sharon Hargrave, Muscatine, Janet Giessregen, Muscatine, Connie Foster, Muscatine, and Carol Wagoner, Glen Carbon, IL; his Bickford Cottage family and his “special” four legged buddies, Hector and Roscoe.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
