

Robert K. "Bud" Allard, age 80, of Davenport, IA. died on Thursday, December 3, 2009, at his home in Davenport following a lengthy illness. As was his wish, there will be no visitation or public funeral services. Cremation rites will be accorded. A private burial will follow at a later date. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.Robert Keith Allard was born on February 2, 1929, to William and Dora (Couch) Allard in Davenport, IA. He married Josephine H. "Jeri" Blacksmith on June 19, 1954, in Davenport. He was a graduate of the former Davenport High School and went on to attend Iowa State University in Ames. During the Korean Conflict, Mr. Allard served as a Boilerman in the United States Navy. Following his military obligations, Bud joined the family business, Allard Dental Laboratory, as a dental technician.Mr. Allard was also an internationally recognized inventor, lecturer and author of many technical manuals and articles in national trade magazines. He served as the chairman of the publications committee of the National Association of Dental Laboratories and as a member of the editorial board of two other national trade magazines. Mr. Allard was past-president of Allard Dental Laboratories and founder of Product Development Company. Most recently, he owned and operated Allied Products Company. He was a member of North Scott Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, a former member of the Davenport Knights of Columbus, and, earned a Merit Award from the National Association of Dental Laboratories.Survivors include - his Wife: Jeri of Davenport; 2 Daughters: Cynthia "Sabrina" Allard of Davenport, Lisa (Bruce) Sandry of Davenport; 2 Sons: Tim (LaRae) Allard of Akron, IA, Mark Allard of Davenport; 1 Sister: Mary Lou Hoefer of Sun City, AZ; 2 Brothers: Donald (Rose) Allard of Davenport, Larry (Donna) Allard of Mountain Home, AR; 10 Grandchildren; 1 Great-Granddaughter.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Scott Rotary Club.
