

Robert LaVon Kallenberger II, 68, of Blue Grass, IA passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at home. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to service time at the mortuary. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences can be left at www.therungemorturay.com. He was born May 12, 1947 in Davenport, IA the son of Robert and Betty (Loder) Kallenberger. He was a 1965 graduate of Davenport West High School. He was married to Jacklyn (Upson) Kallenberger for 39 years. Robert began at Oscar Mayer in the shipping department and joined the union 1968. He began his career with the UFCW Local 431 in 1976 as a Union Steward. Going on to become Chief Union Steward, Plant Representative, Member and Recording Secretary of the Executive Board and Business Representative, retiring in 2009. He was proud of his Cherokee and American Sioux Indian heritage. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. His past memberships include: VP of Buffalo Volunteer Ambulance Service, Volunteer of Buffalo Fire Department, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at his church, Delegate to The Quad City Federation of Labor and The Blackhawk Federation of Labor Convention (AFL-CIO), also a delegate to UFCW International Convention and several UFCW Regional Conventions. He was very devoted to his grandchildren and sharing in their activities. He is survived by daughters: Julie (Larry) Long, Walcott, Trisha (Jay Meyer) Wright, Atalissa, Debi (Larry) Thein, DeWitt; grandchildren: Jessica (Eric) Roberts, Nathanael (Allison Wilkens) O’Connell, Kadi (Kyle) Wagner, Josh Walters, Noah Thein; great-grandchildren: Elliana, Jacob, Annabelle, Boston; sisters: Becky (Richard) Brewington, Batavia, Bonnie Kallenberger, Port Orange, FL; brother, George Kallenberger, Davenport, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Jake O’Connell.
