Dee, we were sorry to hear of Bob's passing. We have many fond memories of our friendship with you and Bob. Bob was an outstanding scientist and teacher and a great mentor to graduate students. We greatly appreciate his help and support during our short tenure as department head and longer assignment as experiment station director and senior associate dean. We retired for the second time in 2006 and moved back to Indiana to be near our children, who grew up when we were at Purdue almost 40 years ago. Now we have children who are all senior citizens and grandchildren in Michigan, Indiana and Florida. We have a 17-year- old great-grandchild close to us here in Monticello, IN. Be assured you are in our prayers in this time of grief and loss. Don and Marilyn Holt

Professor Lambert inspired and encouraged many students and fellow scientists, including me. He is beloved and appreciated by many and will live long in the hearts and minds of those he mentored. Dr. Lambert leaves behind a great legacy!

Dee,
We are so sorry for your loss. Jim and I enjoyed the times we spent with you and Bob. I also enjoyed the research I did on his Family Tree. If any Lambert family members are I interested in it, let me know. He did come from Royalty afterall! It is with sorrow that I have to put a date at the end of his "dash"...2018.
With love,
Sharon and Jim Hamilton

This is Bob’s corn in the background! When we took this photo we were discussing how to use this corn for some exciting and meaningful research! He was full of inspiring ideas, a force in the corn nursery and a great colleague! His legacy lives on not only in the corn varieties he developed.

What wonderful memories I have of my Uncle Bob! One of my earliest was when I was about 4 years old and he would play along with my teddy bear tea parties. He and Dee were an important part of many football weekends at The University of Illinois, and holidays with the entire family. He will be missed here in our lives, but heaven is definitely having a party to welcome him there!

I firmly believe that there is one heck of a party going on up there with Grandpa Rich, Grandma Rache, Uncle Dick and Aunt Mona at the lead while Rick and Bob are there comparing notes. Dee, you got one of the special ones for as long as he was here, and I cherish the fact that I am a part of the legacy from those family connections. Blessings upon you from this part of the clan.
