Memorial services for Robert L. (Bob) Mueller, 72, of Sun City West, AZ, formerly of Davenport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport. The family will greet friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport. Inurnment will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery, where military honors will be provided by the American Legion – Post #26. Mr. Mueller passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at The Gardens of Sun City in Sun City, AZ. Robert Leo Mueller was born on September 11, 1941 in Davenport, the son of Mathias and Rosella (Kresbach) Mueller. He was a graduate of Assumption High School and later joined the United States Air Force in 1960, serving until 1962. On November 12, 1960, he married Charlene C. Conway in Davenport. Bob worked as a manager for Dubuque Packing Company, as well as owner and manager of R Bar M Bar & Grill in Mankato, KS. He retired from Oscar Mayer in 2004. Along with being an avid Green Bay Packer and Iowa Hawkeye fan, he coached youth baseball for several years in Bettendorf, IA and Mankato, KS. Bob was the genealogy family historian and a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his Wife: Charlene “Char” Mueller of Sun City West, AZ; his Children: Scott (Pamela) Mueller of Gardner, KS, Mark (Cynthia) Mueller of Davenport, IA, Michelle (Chad) Kuhlmann of Hebron, NE; a Sister: LaVerne Vinzant of Knapp, WI; 16 Grandchildren and 11 Great-grandchildren, and always “Uncle Bob” to several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Valley in Sun City, AZ or to the American Cancer Society.
