Robert Charles "Bob" Parker

Bob will be remembered most for his unwavering love for his family and friends, his deep appreciation for the great outdoors, and his desire to pass those passions on to future generations.

Bob was born on January 5, 1965, in Davenport, Iowa, to David and MaryAnn Parker. He graduated from Davenport West High School in 1983 and remained a proud member of the Davenport community he called home throughout his life.

For more than four decades, Bob dedicated his career to Horizon Group, where he served as the Purchasing Manager. His remarkable 41 years of service earned him the admiration of coworkers and the honorary title of “Bob the Legend,” complete with a coveted front-row parking spot in recognition of his 40 years of dedication.

On April 20, 1985, Bob married the love of his life, Lisa Parker. Together they built a life centered on family, raising three children; who were the source of his greatest pride. Nothing brought Bob more joy than becoming a Grandpa. Whether teaching them about the outdoors, sharing stories, or simply spending time together, he treasured every opportunity to create lasting memories with his grandchildren.

Bob had a lifelong passion for hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He found peace in the outdoors and believed those experiences were meant to be shared. Whether in a deer stand, on the water with a fishing pole, or in his woodworking shop creating something with his hands, Bob’s greatest happiness came from teaching his children and grandchildren the skills and values he loved.

Bob was raised in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and after marrying Lisa, at Christ Methodist Church, they continued growing their faith and keeping it an important part of life.

Those who knew Bob will remember his quiet strength, steady work ethic, generous heart, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He found fulfillment not in recognition, but in caring for those he loved and leaving each generation a little better prepared than the one before.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Lisa Parker; their children, Emily, Austin, and Evan; his cherished grandchildren, Aubrey and Theo; his siblings, James, William, and Mary Kay Parker; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and MaryAnn Parker, and his brother, Joe Parker.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Runge Mortuary & Crematory, 838 E. Kimberly Road, Davenport, Iowa.

Funeral services will immediately follow at the mortuary.

Graveside services, open to all family and friends, will take place afterward at Van Horn Cemetery, 2201 Hoover Highway, Lowden, Iowa.

Family and friends are also invited to celebrate Bob’s life during a luncheon on Saturday, August 8, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 4400 W. Central Park Avenue, Davenport, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob’s memory to Big River Conservationists of Davenport, Iowa, helping preserve the natural resources and outdoor traditions that meant so much to him.

Bob’s legacy will live on in every sunrise from a deer stand, every quiet morning on the water, every project built with loving hands, and every lesson shared with those fortunate enough to call him husband, Dad, Grandpa, brother, and friend. His love for the outdoors was only surpassed by his love for the people with whom he shared it.
