

Robert George Peters, Sr., 81, of Davenport went to his Heavenly Father on Monday, September 3, 2012 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 7, 2012 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2363 W. 3rd Street, in Davenport. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm Thursday at the Runge Mortuary. Mr. Peters was born June 12, 1931 in Davenport, Iowa, a son of Herbert and Katherine (Harter) Peters. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. On January 20, 1954, he married Barbara Ann Landon in Rock Island, Illinois. He was employed as an electrician with IBEW Local 145, retiring in 1993 from Paulson Electric in Moline. He was a lifetime member of the Davenport Eagles Lodge where he had served as past president, trustee, and a member of the men’s bowling team for thirty five years, a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church since 1945, and a former member of the Davenport Moose Lodge. His hobbies also included dancing, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Ann, children and spouses: Robert George Peters, Jr., Carol Sue (Terry) Rhoades, Nancy Jo (Duane) Witt, Karen Ann (John) Stradt, and Roy Alan (Suzette) Peters; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; siblings Katherine Jacobs, Stanley Peters, Kenneth Peters, James Peters, Gerald Peters, Dolores Grubbs, Mary Gillespie, and Raymond Peters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, three brothers, and two sisters. May they rest in peace.
