Bob was born January 29, 1949, to Kenneth Powers and Margaret Crecelius. He graduated from Assumption High School in 1968. In April 1972, he started dating Lana Caulkins while working at Brach’s Candy Company and married her in December that same year. They were married for almost 49 years. Soon after marriage, Bob began a long career working at John Deere as an assembler. After 30 years, Bob decided it was time and he retired in 2004. He never regretted it.
Bob was an avid Chicago Cubs fan from his living room. He also loved Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball. He never missed a game. He found solace in coaching youth baseball for many years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, classic cars, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lana; his son Matthew (Dawn) Powers; his son Paul (Elizabeth) Powers; his grandchildren Sean, Margaret, Amelia, and Winston; his brother Tom (Judy) Powers; his sister Kathy (Tim) Hansen; his sister Patricia (Fred) Witt; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Lung Association at www.lung.org or to your favorite charity.
