Robert Junior Rupe, Jr., 78, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2026, in Davenport. Per his request, cremation rites will be provided with inurnment will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. A celebration of life is tentatively planned for July at the Wooden Nickel in Davenport. Memorials may go to his family.
“Rupe” was born in Davenport on March 4, 1948, to Robert J. and Betty M. (Stennett) Rupe. He graduated from Davenport West High School and then entered into the Army. Upon the completion of his service to his country, Rupe worked as a welder for the Rock Island Arsenal for thirty years, retiring in March 2003.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors and was known for always wearing his welder’s hat.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Betty Rupe, Davenport; nephew, Jason Rupe, Davenport; niece, Sara Clarke, Orlando, FL; great nephews, Brodrick Rupe and Elijah Clarke and special friend, Karen Brentise, Davenport. His father and a brother Frank preceded him in death.
