Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church Davenport, IA. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery Rock Island, IL. Memorials in his name may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Kings Harvest No Kill Shelter. Bob was born January 16, 1946, in Davenport, IA to Rudy & Marguerite (Schroeder) Schwan. He served as a radioman in the US Navy from 1966 to 1969, spending a year in Antarctica as part of Operation Deep Freeze. After his time in the service, he worked as a floor covering installer, primarily at Northwest Carpets. Bob was united in marriage to Candice Ketelson on October 10, 1970, in Davenport, IA. She preceded him in death on January 22, 2019. Bob & Candy were active in the church, very caring to their pets, and loved spending time with family. Bob always had a good story to share, and one of his favorites was about his cat’s appearance on America’s Funniest Home Videos.
Survivors include son Robert (Myonggu) Schwan, Jr.; daughters, Jenny (Scott) Labath and Gretchen Teckenburg; grandchildren Robert III & Paula Schwan, Emily (Chris) Kerslake, Troy & Sammy Labath, Gabby, Spencer, Justin, and Helen Tecklenburg; and a brother Walter (Louise) Schwan.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son-in-law John Tecklenburg.
