Robert A. Southworth

Robert A. Southworth, 71, of Davenport, IA passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Per his wishes he will be cremated with no visitation. Online condolences and tributes may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Robert was born on April, 8, 1946 in Davenport, IA to Homer and Bernadine (Sachau) Southworth. He was united in marriage to Sandra Ament on September 5, 1965 in Davenport, IA.

Robert worked for the Waste Commission of Scott County and retired after 28 years of service. He was also a member of IUOE Local 150 in Davenport, IA. He used to always joke about being a “Garbologist”

He enjoyed stock car racing and loved watching NASCAR. He enjoyed joking and interacting with the staff and waitresses at Village Inn on Harrison Street, especially Julie. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to kid around with everyone. It’s something that will never be forgotten. Those left to honor his memory include, his loving wife of 52 years, Sandy Southworth; son, Jerry (Elke) Southworth; his second wife, Pat Dias; sister, Jeanie Southworth, The Dalles, Oregon; sister-in-law, Jean Southworth (of the late Larry Southworth), Brandt Lake, NY; brother and sister-in-law, Larry (Cyndee) Ament; three grandsons: Justin, Nic, Tyler; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Debbie Neely, and his brother, Larry.
