Roberta Harris Colburn

Roberta L. Harris Colburn, 89, of Davenport, formerly of Virginia, IL, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 at the Kahl Home in Davenport. Per her request, cremation rites will be accorded. A private memorial service will be held at the Runge Mortuary. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Memorials may be made to the Kahl Home.

Roberta was born June 7, 1925 in Joy, IL; the daughter of Don and Olive (Pulliam) Gilmore. She graduated from Joy High School in 1943 and then graduated from Western Illinois University in 1947.

She married Bill R. Harris on June 12, 1949 in Joy; he preceded her in death. She later married C.G. Colburn of Virginia, IL; he also preceded her in death.

She was a math teacher for the Virginia, IL school system prior to her retirement. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She was active in home extension. She loved to read and spend time in her flower garden.

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Alan (Kris) Harris; Bettendorf; six grandchildren; John Smillie, Alex (Korinne) Smillie, Jeff, Amy, Brooke and Cole Harris and sisters: Audrey Bryant, Joy, IL and Cheryl (Keith) Achey, Fairfax, IA. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Elaine Smillie.
