Ronald R. Burke, 76, of Davenport passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on November 19, 2021 at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the funeral home. Ron was born on January 17, 1945 in Davenport, IA to John and Carma (Hennings) Burke. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1968 and in Vietnam from 1966-1967. He married Carol Brune on December 28, 1968. She preceded him in death on April 27, 2005. He later married Susan McClimans on June 7, 2009. In Tower, MN. Ron worked at John Deere for 28 years in Public Relations, retiring in 2000. He owned Bread Basket Bakery in Bettendorf for 11 years; he went on to work at Enterprise for 10 years.
Ron never met a stranger and had a wonderful sense of humor. His love of traveling took he and Sue to 47 states, where he loved to bring a rock for the hill in his backyard. He also enjoyed flowers and gardening. He was a member of the Bettendorf Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Sue Burke; sons, Scot Burke and Candy Cain-Pratt of San Marcos, TX and Donald and Fabiola Burke of Davenport; grandchildren include Christopher Patricio and Gerilynn Pate of Bettendorf and Quin and Qy Burke of San Antonio, TX and great grandchild, Ace Patricio.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Carol Brune-Burke and parents, John and Carma Burke.
