Military honors will be held on Monday June 22, 2026 at 10 am at Rock Island National Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to meet at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory at 9 am to process together to the cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com
Ron was born on September 7, 1947 in Malvern Iowa to Harold and Margaret (Kelso) Coons. He was united in marriage to Barbara Van Winkle. They had many happy years together. Ron enjoyed car rides, NASCAR and in his younger days, square dancing.
Ron is survived by his children, Bill (Chris) Coons, Matt (Brooke) Coons, Dustin Aiello-Coons, Jason Tutor, Erik Finch; daughter-in-law, Carrie Coons; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Roy Coons and sisters, Carol DeBord and Doris Peterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara and son, John Coons.
