

Ronald “Scott” Fisher, 72, from Davenport, IA passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 3, 2023. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at the time of service. Scott will be laid to rest at Rock Island National Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.weertsfh.com.
Scott was born on May 7, 1951 in Prairie City, OR to his parents Pearl (Wood) and Paul Fisher. In 1969, Scott graduated from Hayfork High School and soon after enlisted in the United States Army. During his military service, Scott saw the world throughout his many deployment stops. While stationed in Germany, he met the love of his life, Roswitha “Rose” Rohr. Scott and Rose married on September 13, 1974 in Bruchmühlbach, Germany, and spent 49+ loving years together. In 1996, Scott retired from the United States Army as Sgt. Major stationed at the Rock Island Arsenal in charge of ordnance.
In retirement, Scott loved traveling to see his family on their reunion trips and to any place warm. He enjoyed spending time with his family and adored his grandkids. He never passed up the chance to help someone or give someone a hard time if they deserved it. Scott loved golf, bowling and watching sports, especially the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Angels, and San Francisco 49ers.
Survivors include his wife Roswitha Fisher; children Jeffrey (Samantha) Fisher, Kathryn (Michael) Gisel; grandchildren Rebecca, Jacob, Michael, Emily, and Samantha; siblings Dwayne (Rose), Judy (Landon), Charles (Paula), Daryl (Terry), and in-laws Marianne and Heiner Barth, Judith Rohr, Rainer Ropte and their families. Scott also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Joann, and his grandchild, Randy.
