

Ronald “Ron” E. Perry, 77, of Bettendorf passed away after a long and hard battle of cancer for 3 years on July 17, 2025 at Clarissa C. Cook House. Per his wishes, cremation rites will take place. A family led celebration will be held at a later date. Memorials may be left to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Ron was born on May 27, 1948 in Fort Madison, IA to Ralph and Glennis (Crawford) Perry. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1967. Ron married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn O’Neil on May 4, 1968 in Ottumwa. Ron worked as a substance counselor at New Life Outpatient Center, retiring in 2013.
Ron was an avid college football fan, rooting for his 2 favorite teams, Notre Dame and Iowa Hawkeyes. He never met a stranger and made acquaintances with everyone. Ron loved his family and always kept them on their toes with his witty humor. He also enjoyed being outdoors whether it was grilling, watching hummingbirds and loving his golden retriever, Cassadie.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; children, Scott (Ruth) Perry of Durant and Ryan (Heather) Perry of Belleview, Fl; 2 grandsons, Nicholas (Chelsie) Perry of Coal Valley and Rylan Perry of Durant; siblings, Rebecca Baty, Bonnie (Paul) Shovlain and Ruthanne (Denny) Thompson; sister-in-law Patty Spain and nephew, Greg Spain; step grandchildren, Lily (Les) Flesher and Hannah Bassett; great grandchildren, Boston, Brox, Lennox, Norah, Perry and Cooper Flesher and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Kimberly Sue Perry; in-laws, Robert and Francis O’Neil and brother-in-law, Mike O’Neil.
