Davenport, IA Ronald E. Swanson, 84, of Blue Grass, passed away on April 20, 2017 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Family will greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 27 at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary. Burial will follow at Pinehill Cemetery, Davenport.Ronald Edward Swanson was born on November 4, 1932 in Oakville, IA, the son of John and Edythe (Culbertson) Swanson. He married Patricia Ann Miller on June 14, 1958 in Davenport. She preceded him in death on July 29, 2003. He served in the U.S. Army with the Military Police in Europe during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a meat cutter and electrician for Oscar Meyer. Retiring after 31 years, he then worked as a handyman, and later operated an online business. Survivors include daughters Karen Sue Rogers and husband Rodney of Jacksonville, N.C., Peggy Jo Groharing and husband Gregory of Davenport, son, Scott Ronald Swanson and wife Deboralynn of Oconomowoc, WI., grandchildren Christopher Rogers and partner James Kent of Surfside Beach, S.C., Laurie Rogers of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Joanie Ramsey and husband Jeff of Jacksonville, N.C, Matthew Groharing and wife Kimberly of Blue Grass, Beth Ann Stansfield and husband Craig of Blue Grass, Carissa Robinson and husband Thomas of Bozeman, MT, a brother, Richard Swanson of S.C., a sister, Mari Willis of S.C., and seven great-grandchildren.Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Patricia, brothers John Swanson, Jr. and Randall Swanson, and sisters Joanne German and Marilyn Cooper.Memorials may be made to Clarissa C.
