

She was born on August 23, 1919, in Davenport. She was the daughter of Emil and Emma (Slaby) Buemann. Rose spent every one of her remarkable years in the city she loved and called home. She married Kenneth R. “Buck” Hennings on October 12, 1946, in Davenport. Together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. He passed away on April 30, 2004.
Rose was a trailblazer in her younger years, becoming a board-certified beautician and proudly owning her own salon - a rare and inspiring achievement for women in the 1940s and 1950s.
She was a familiar face at the Col Ballroom, where she spent countless weekends dancing the East Coast Swing and two-step with friends and family, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Rose is survived by her daughter Barb Lange; her grandchildren Dawn Lange-Chantos and Scott Lange; her grandson-in-law Tim Chantos; and her beloved great-grandchildren Jake, Ryan, Ashlee Rose, Easton, Brock, and Brooke. She was the heart of her family, always present at sporting events, cheering on her grandchildren and great grandchildren with pride and joy.
Rose had a passion for cooking and baking, filling her home with warmth, delicious aromas, and love. A dedicated Chicago Cubs fan, she rarely missed a game, celebrating every win and enduring every loss with unwavering loyalty.
Rose Hennings was an extraordinary woman—strong, loving, and ahead of her time. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. Her family and all who knew her will miss her deeply. In addition to her husband and parents, Rose was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bob Lange, two brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 24th at The Runge Mortuary from 11 am until noon. Services will follow at noon at the mortuary. Her final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may go to St. Mark Lutheran Church or to HDC.
