Ruth Mae Erickson

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, March 30, 2012 at The Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM, Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to Blue Grass Presbyterian Church, Beacon of Hope Hospice, or Blue Grass American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Ruth was born October 29, 1927 in Davenport. She married Raymond Erickson in 1949 in Dixon, Iowa. He passed away in 2002.

Ruth taught in a one-room school house in Scott County from 1945 to 1949. In 1962, she returned to teaching, working in the Blue Grass Elementary School System from 1962- 1976. She retired in 1976 after being an elementary teacher for 18 years. Ruth loved flowers, playing cards, and dancing.

Survivors include daughter Kathy Thomas, Des Moines, son Loren (JoEllen) Erickson, Durant, two grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and two sisters, Dorothy Fischer and Mary Lou Puls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, two brothers, and one sister.
