The family extends their thanks to the staff at The Fountains Cascade Unit for their loving care of Ruth in her later season of life.
Ruth was born on March 2, 1925 in Davenport, IA, to parents Velma (Groth) and Louis Hennings. She graduated from Davenport High School and later met the love of her life, Robert Rensberger. They got married on May 1, 1948 in Davenport. The pair went on to have two children and nearly 60 years together before Robert passed in 2008.
Family was at the forefront of Ruth’s life. She stayed home to raise the children and was elated whenever more members of the family were added in. Whether it was the addition of grandchildren, great-grands, or in-laws, Ruth was always there with welcome arms. No matter where she went, Ruth was notorious for making acquaintances left and right. She practiced her faith at First Presbyterian Church. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling in various leagues throughout the years, square dancing with Robert, and working in her gardens.
Ruth’s love lives on in those left to remember her. Her loved ones include her son, Jim (Nancy) Rensberger; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, and her son-in-law, Steve Goldsmith.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rensberger; daughter, Kathy Goldsmith; sister, Elaine Rensberger, and her parents.
