Ruth was born September 9, 1944 in Fehmarn, Germany to Martha (Cohrs) and Karl Heinze. She and her sisters came to the United States in 1954 with their Mom.
She had been employed in several positions over the years including NW Bell, Lee Enterprises, and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She babysat several children and was affectionately known as Ruthie. She later went on to work at the Rock Island Arsenal from where she retired.
Ruth had a very strong faith and was active in St. Mark’s Lutheran church where she was the church secretary. In her later years, she became a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Eldridge, IA. She enjoyed crafting, black-eyed susans, spending time with her special neighbors, having a glass a wine on Sundays, watching Hallmark movies and taking a good snooze. She had a warm heart and a gentle soul. Her family was very important to her and she was a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her daughter Kristin (Mike) Vieger, Davenport, IA; son Brian (Kelly) Marti, Fort Worth, TX; 4 Grandchildren Kelly & Joseph Hermiston & Kade & Kylie Marti; sister Susan Knuth, Davenport, IA; brother-in-law Juergen Kroening, Davenport, IA; and nieces & nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; sister Ingrid Kroening; brother-in-law Ralph Knuth; & nephews Mike Kroening & Paul Lensmeyer.
