Ruth M. Zindel, 84, of Davenport passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2012 following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Legacy Baptist Church, 4823 Jersey Ridge Road in Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm on Sunday at the Runge Mortuary, 838 E. Kimberly Road in Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. A native of Knox County, Nebraska, Mrs. Zindel married Kenneth K. Zindel on June 8, 1947 in Davenport. She was employed as an executive secretary for the Alter Barge Line for twenty three years prior to her retirement.
She was a member of Legacy Baptist Church, was an avid bicycle rider and took a special interest in children.
Survivors include her husband Kenneth; children Paula Maxwell, Gregory Zindel, and Carol (Doug) Hurt; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a brother, Al Scheer and a sister, Joan Krapf.
