Sammy was born May 28, 1950 in Davenport, a son of Lester and Evelyn Long. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired in 2010 after more than 25 years with Local 4, Davenport Carpenter’s Union.
Survivors include his children: Michael Long and KayLee Long, grandchildren: Addisen Long and Patrick McGee and sisters: Barb, Kay, Sandy, Carol and Cherol. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Phil and Randy and sisters Leila and Dixie.
