

Samuel Syverud, 86, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 7th, 2018 at Genesis East, Davenport. Services in celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 am Monday, March 12th at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 121 West 12th St., Davenport with Rev. Dr. John Horn officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm Sunday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Private inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Living Lands and Waters (17624 Rt. 84 N., East Moline, IL 61244).
Sam was born in 1931 in Davenport, Iowa to Dr. A. L. and Ruth Syverud. He married Dolores “Lori” Bruckmann on June 19, 1954 in Davenport. He managed pension funds for John Deere, retiring in 2001. Following his retirement he made himself available to care for everyone around him. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Davenport; Davenport Country Club, of which his family were founding members; and the Outing Club, Davenport. He also enjoyed yard work, camping in Canada, and especially time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Lori; daughters Tina (Dan) Allison of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Marta (Jim) Burnham of Pleasant Valley, IA; son John (Mary) Syverud of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren Sam Allison, Andy (Liz) Burnham, Kristen Syverud, Matt Burnham, Scott Allison, Emily Syverud, Madeline Burnham, John Allison and Michael Syverud; and brother Dr. John Syverud of Pleasant Valley, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Betty Syverud and nephew John C. Syverud.
