Sandra Jean Engholm

Sandra Jean Engholm, 85, of Davenport, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Genesis East Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy stitched together with devotion, adventure, and the kind of steady love that shaped generations.

A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 12 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary. She will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family.

Born April 16, 1941, in Davenport to George and Helen (Nerhus) Geest, Sandra grew up with a quiet determination and a bright spirit that carried her through every chapter of her life. After graduating from Davenport High School, she dedicated over thirty years to the Rock Island Arsenal as a Logistic Management Specialist—bringing precision, loyalty, and a sharp mind to her work until retirement.

In 1969, she married the love of her life, Albert D. Engholm, at St. Mark Church in Davenport. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, travel, and shared passions. Cruises to Hawaii and Alaska became treasured adventures, golf trips turned into traditions, and in her younger years, softball gave her a place to shine with grit and joy.

Sandra was a lifelong sports enthusiast—never just a spectator, but a true fan with heart. Whether cheering for the Cubs, Bears, Hawkeyes, or following Caitlin Clark from college stardom into her professional career, she watched with the same enthusiasm she brought to everything she loved.

Faith anchored her life. As a longtime member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, she carried forward a family legacy of worship, community, and service.

Those left to carry on her legacy include her husband of 57 years, Albert; her children: Carrie (Robert) Rind, Lori Winters, and Scott Allen Engholm, all of Davenport; her grandchildren: Jessica (Adam) VanHoosier, Christopher Winters, Amanda (Damien) Lawless, Lana Winters, Lacey Winters, and Lynsey Winters; thirteen great grandchildren; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Richard Geest; and her nephew, Charles Geest.

Sandra lived her life with quiet strength, deep loyalty, and a love that stretched across oceans, ballparks, and generations. Her family will remember her laughter, her unwavering support, and the way she made every gathering feel like home.
