Sarah M. Braden, 71, of Davenport, Iowa went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 12, 2023. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 1pm at Mt. Sinai Christian Fellowship. Friends may call upon the family starting at 12pm. Memorials in Sarah's name may be made to the family.
Sarah was born on May 3, 1951 in Galesburg, Illinois to Dennis Shortridge and Dorothy Blackwell. She attended North High School in Des Moines, Iowa. Following high school Sarah worked as a CNA for many years. Sarah was a phenomenal mother and loved spending every chance she could with her grandbabies and great-grandbabies. In her free time, Sarah enjoyed cooking for friends and family. She could often be found working on a crochet project with a Pepsi by her side. Sarah had a strong faith and shared her love of Christ with those around her. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Christian Fellowship and sang in various church choirs throughout her life. Sarah could often be found in church with a tambourine in hand and she could play it like no other. She taught her family how to just be themselves no matter what others said or thought. Sarah was never afraid to speak her mind and would always let you know what she was thinking. She was the epitome of strength and never let life get her down.
Those left to honor her memory are her children Will Howard, III, YaVette McCuller (Phil Millsap), Shanetta Bradford (Renardo), LaShina Bea, JaNique Bea, Christina Talbert, and Stephanie Byrd; grandchildren: LIl Jr, Stinky, Juice, Kitten, White Girl, Baby Al, ShayShay, Kainte', Little Man, and Puddn; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters: Peggy Ross, Brenda Davis, Brenda Hannah-Jones, Sheila Jones and Rhonda Claytor-Green; and her beloved dog Sparkles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Kathryn Davis, son Anterio DeShawn Lewis, great-grandchildren JaDarian VanAuwelaer and Sir Barnes.
