Sean Brady Fitzgerald

Sean Brady Fitzgerald, affectionately known as “Chewy,” passed away on July 6, 2025. Born in Long Island, New York, Sean spent much of his life in the Quad Cities and El Paso, Texas, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew him.

Sean was a proud graduate of West High School in Davenport, Iowa, class of 1986, where he was actively involved in wrestling and football. His early years were also marked by deep involvement in the Boy Scouts, fostering his love for the outdoors and community. Sean furthered his education at Gallaudet University and the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, earning his associate’s degree in Graphic Design. He worked diligently at the Isle Casino Hotel in landscape and maintenance and enjoyed his work at the Quad Cities Times Newspaper while pursuing his passion for freelance graphic design, a field where his creative spirit thrived. His hobbies included video gaming with friends, collecting Star Wars and Xbox memorabilia, working on his vehicles, repairing electronics, building models (cars, trains, and more), enjoying fireworks, and spending time outdoors. Sean also took great care of his beloved cats. A devoted Star Wars fan, Sean’s favorite character was Chewbacca, inspiring his beloved nickname, “Chewy.”

Sean was preceded in death by his father, Thomas E. Fitzgerald, his mother, Julianne Konyak, and his stepfather, Jerry Shoemaker. He is survived by his siblings, Kimberly Moss-Fitzgerald and Brian (Tracy) Fitzgerald; his nephews, Akia Williams, whom he often called “Jedi,” and Jack Fitzgerald; his nieces, Alexandra Solbrig and Amanda Warner; his great-nephew, Octavian Williams; and his stepbrothers, Josh and Jason Shoemaker. He is also remembered by cherished family friends Rod and Jennifer Keding and Jim Reed, who were like family to Sean.

Sean’s vibrant personality, adventurous spirit, and creative talents will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the memories shared by his family and friends. May the Force be with our beloved Sean.
