Known as Meema to most, Sharon was a giving Mother/Grandmother to family. To know her in all her colorful ways, was definitely to love her.

Sharon was born in Newton, Iowa August 19, 1944 to Elmer and Beatrice McFarland. She graduated high school with a music scholarship and was a very gifted musician/violinist. She was married to Pete Laing for many years and briefly to Jim Laurienti.

Sharon and Pete (passed away 7/7/2019) had 5 children: Teresa Laing-Ware (Don) Bettendorf, IA, Roger Laing (Martha Christie) Arlington, VA. Todd Laing, Bettendorf, IA. Ralph Laing (passed away 11/21/2020) and Karyn Walters (Mike) Davenport, IA. Grandchildren Mandi, Todd Jr., Jake, Taylor, Roger Jr., Bailey, R.J. (Ralph Jr.), Sydnee, Ryan, and Connor. Six great-grandchildren. Sharon is also survived by her sisters Bonnie Nelson (Omaha, NE) and Karen Warehime, (her twin) Denver, Co. The twins are the youngest of 12.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved son Ralph; sweet great-granddaughter Abigail and 9 siblings.
