Sheila A Brauer

Sheila Ann Brauer, 80, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away at Mercy One Genesis Hospital in Davenport, Iowa, on October 27, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, family, and friends. Sheila was born in Centerville, Iowa, on February 10, 1946, to Bill and Louise (Street) Kennedy. She was united in marriage to Merle Leo Brauer on February 8, 1964, in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2011.

The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Runge Mortuary and Crematory on Monday, November 2, 2026. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Runge Chapel. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Please leave condolences for the family at www.rungemortuary.com .

Over the years, Sheila worked as a housekeeper, store clerk, and homemaker, meeting life with steady devotion and a willingness to do what was needed for those she loved. A member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, she attended Mass at Our Lady of Victory, finding comfort and strength in her faith and community. She gave her time generously through volunteer work with several groups, and she found simple joys in calling and playing bingo, playing cards, and going to the casino. Above all, the true highlight of Sheila’s life was the time she shared with her family and friends—moments marked by closeness, loyalty, and care.

Sheila is survived by two daughters, Ann (Matthew) Harrison and Cherie (Craig Joos) Brauer, both of Davenport; eight grandchildren, Kala Brauer, Aaron Brauer, Brianne Harrison, Lindsey Harrison, Denielle Brauer, Drew Harrison, Hailey Brauer, and Natalee Brauer; numerous great-grandchildren; five siblings, Jean Adomat, Diane Wheeler, Elaine (Dan) Martens, Patty Gilbreath, and Michelle Kennedy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle Leo Brauer; her son, Billy Brauer; and brothers-in-law Rick Adomat and Rick Gilbreath.
