Sheri Lynn Dvorak, 57, of Bettendorf, IA passed away on July 24, 2024 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her husband and daughters. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Beloved friends, family, and acquaintances are invited to her memorial visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 30 at Weerts Funeral Home. Sheri’s memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Hope Church in Bettendorf. A light luncheon and continued celebration of life will occur immediately following the service until 7pm at the Mississippi River Distilling Company Celebration Center in LeClaire, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the family as they will honor Sheri by donating to the Unity Point Health – Trinity Medical Oncology & Hematology. The Dvorak and Scott families are forever grateful to Dr. Constatinou and the staff at Unity Point Cancer Center for the care provided over her 20+ year battle with cancer.
Sheri was born on August 25, 1966 in Cedar Rapids, IA to parents Clara (Deutmeyer) and Clair Scott. In 1984, Sheri graduated from Cedar Rapids LaSalle High School. Later, Sheri obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Iowa State University. Throughout her career, she held various positions; whether it be working at KinderCare, Peter Rabbit Pre-school, the YMCA before and afterschool programs, ParaEducator at Riverdale Heights Elementary or as the school secretary, she always maintained a passion for education and the well-being of the community.
On August 12, 1989, Sheri married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Randy Dvorak. They both shared a love for ISU sports (having both been alums) and they specifically enjoyed season football games over the last 10 years. Together, they raised two daughters, the greatest joy and accomplishment of their lives. She was a devoted mother and engaged in the PTA, being a room parent, girl scout leader, and volleyball and softball coach. Sheri found great joy in spending time with her family, especially when doting on her granddaughter the last couple of years. Cheering on her daughters, her nieces and nephews and their children, and her granddaughter in their various sports was a priority to her throughout her life.
Sheri was involved in many activities including active participation with her Hope Church and Livestrong groups, as well as playing bunco with her friends. She also enjoyed spending time with Randy in the backyard tending to the garden or floral arrangements during the warmer months. She had a passion for crafting and loved to attend the annual Beaux Arts Festival with her family. Going on walks and frequenting local eateries and shops are among other activities she was fond of doing with loved ones. Sheri loved traveling and creating lifelong memories on each of their trips. She was particularly fond of visiting the beach or the mountains. To know Sheri is to know love. The world is a better place because of the impact she had on those around her. Though our time with her on earth has ended, her love will continue on.
Those who are left to carry her memory, include her loving husband, Randy Dvorak; father, Clair (Linda) Scott; daughters, Erika (Ryan) Gayman and Kait (Jordan) Bonner; granddaughter, Astrid Bonner; sisters, Tracy Spicer-Ehrman and Beth Freerksen, and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Sheri was preceded in death by her mother, Clara Scott; Brother, Eric Scott; Father-in-Law, Henry Dvorak; Brother-in-law, David Spicer; Stepbrother, Jeff Winter; Nephew, Jacob Dvorak; Niece, Rebekah Dvorak; as well as several other loved ones including grandparents, cousins, and great nephews and nieces.
