Born December 17, 1957, Sherry was the daughter of Donna (Stroud) and Melvin Buster. She graduated from Davenport West High School. Sherry dedicated more than two decades of service as a clerk at Davenport Check Cashers, where she worked from 1998 until her retirement in 2022. In her free time, Sherry enjoyed spending time on the golf course, embracing the game with enthusiasm regardless of what the scorecard said.
Sherry married William “Bill” Nagle, and together they had three children. They later divorced. On June 8, 1996, Sherry joined Richard Gobin in married union. Family was everything to Sherry, and she made that truth visible in the ways she showed up week after week, and year after year. Wednesday sister nights, spent watching Survivor and Big Brother, became a cherished tradition filled with spirited commentary and endless laughter. What was said during those evenings was often hilarious, occasionally outrageous, and, according to a long-standing sisterhood agreement, will never be discussed outside the Wednesday night circle. She was a loving mother and an especially proud grandmother who delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and celebrating their lives. She also treasured time with her children, nieces, nephews, and close family, whether gathered around a table playing cards, sharing a cold beer, or enjoying one another’s company.
Sherry had a knack for collecting people and making them family. The neighborhood kids always seemed to know where a good meal could be found, and more than a few grew up thinking of her house as their second home. She cared deeply for others and was the first to show up when someone needed help, especially her longtime friends, whom she faithfully supported through life's later chapters. Her compassion was matched only by her sense of humor, lively personality, and laugh that could fill a room. To know Sherry was to know kindness, loyalty, and a woman who never stopped looking after the people she loved.
Survivors include her children, Stacy (Ben) Brummit, Sean (Samantha) Nagle, and Patrick (Ashley) Nagle; her cherished grandchildren, Lincoln, Willow, Remi, and Wesley; her sisters, Jill (Rick) Weber and Jinx Gugelmeyer; her beloved dog, Agnes Fern; and several nieces, nephews, and dear cousin.
Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents, Donna and Melvin; her sister, Trish Buster; her brother-in-law, Dick Gugelmeyer; and her great-nephew, Cole Gugelmeyer.
