Sheryl L Smith

Sheryl “Sherry” Smith, 64, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on September 12, 2026. A celebration of Sherry’s life will be held at a later date for family and close friends. Online condolences may be shared at Runge Mortuary.

Sherry was born on July 23, 1962, in Davenport, Iowa, to Wayne Hildebrant and Carol Rubsamen. In 1992, she married the love of her life, Michael “Mike” Smith. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised six children.

Sherry found joy in the simple things in life. She loved spending time at the river house, fishing, and making memories with her children, grandchildren, siblings, and close friends. She also had a special talent for finding a good garage sale and never passed up the opportunity to find a great bargain.

Sherry’s greatest joy was her family. Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband, Michael “Mike” Smith; Sarah Steiner; Kevin and Kayla Steiner; Crystal Steiner; Holly and Brian Schofield; Scott Smith; and Shawn Smith; as well as her eight siblings, 15 cherished grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and beloved dog Lucy 🩷

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-parents; her mother- and father-in-law; four siblings; and two grandchildren.

Sherry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched, the memories she created, and, most of all, the family she loved so dearly.
