Shirley J. Brooks

Shirley J. Brooks, 86, of Davenport, died Monday, December 26, 2011 at the Davenport Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 1:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare in Milan, IL. Shirley was born March 28, 1925 in Stockton, IA, the daughter of Harry and Malonie (Herbst) Bohnsack. She was united in marriage to Elden Brooks on February 10, 1945 in Davenport. She had previously worked at ML Parkers Department Store. Shirley was a member of the ALCOA Retirees, Plus 60 Club and S.O.A.R. She also enjoyed dancing and cooking.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Elden, Davenport, daughter, Sandra (Robert) Gonzalez, Milan, IL; grandchildren: Melanie Newman, San Antonio, TX; Amy Balluff, San Antonio, TX and Charles (Ashley) Balluff, Davenport; great grandchildren: Taylor Newman, Samantha, Danielle and Alicia Villarreal and Katie McVay, all of San Antonio, TX; Makynzee and Mariah Balluff, both of Davenport; sisters: Marguerite Borchers, Davenport, Jeanette (Alan) Hoffman, New Liberty, IA; brother, Bob (Jean) Bohnsack, New Liberty, IA and a sister-in-law, Jackie Bohnsack, Davenport.

Her parents, grandchildren: Melissa, Robert and William Balluff; brothers: Henry (Jerry) Bohnsack, Vernon Bohnsack and sisters, Arlene (John) Jorgenson and Harriett (Arlan) Moeller preceded her in death.
