

Funeral services for Shirley A. Van Patten, 75, of Davenport will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary chapel in Davenport. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the mortuary. Interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Mrs. Van Patten passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center – West Campus, Davenport. Shirley A. Hohenshell was born on April 30, 1936 in North English, IA, the daughter of Charles and Nita (Bell) Hohenshell. On June 15, 1959, she married Arthur Van Patten in Lancaster, MO. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Her passion in life was her family and she worked continuously to provide a loving home for her husband and children. She will be fondly remembered for her unconditional love, her exceptional cooking, and her devotion to family. She is survived by her Husband: Arthur Van Patten of Davenport; three Daughters: Lenora “Lee” (Bill) Jahns of Davenport, Luana (Steven) Genck of Washington, IA, Tina (Joe) Senftle of Darnestown, MD; three Sons: Steven Van Patten of Davenport, Ted (Paula) Van Patten of Goose Lake, IA, James (Laura) Van Patten of Cedar Falls, IA; a Sister: Sharon (Richard) Schwertfeger of Fairfax, IA; a Sister-in-Law: Peggy Miller of North English, IA; 20 Grandchildren: Garrett Jahns, Joe (Alisha) Jahns, Mitch Jahns, Steven Genck, Derek (Amy) Genck, Jessica Brown, Jason Brown, Jenna Brown, Hope Van Patten, Joy Van Patten, Ted Van Patten Jr., Cameron Van Patten, Sara Van Patten, Lucas Dever, Jacob Dever, Carlie Dever, Abigail Van Patten, Grace Van Patten, Andrew Van Patten, Emma Van Patten; and 9 Great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by infant sons, Kenny Dean and Patrick, a sister, Ruby Cavanaugh, and a brother, David Hohenshell. Memorials may be directed to the family.
