Sidney Alan Rathburn went home to the Lord on Saturday, November 15, 2014 after a long illness. He was born March 17, 1953 at Mercy Hospital in Davenport, Iowa to Maxine Agnes Paul Rathburn and George Oliver Rathburn, who both preceded him in death. He graduated from Central High School in Davenport.
He served in the Navy for four years. He was a head baker for HyVee in Iowa until he moved to Alabama where he worked for Winn Dixie until he had to retire for health reasons. He loved to sing and listen to music and play softball.
He is survived by his brother, Rickey Lee Rathburn, Ft Meyers, FL and sister, Pamela (Joe) Rathburn White, Tucson, AZ; five nephews and two nieces; eleven great nephews and four great nieces.
A memorial service will be held at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Davenport on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 11:00 am. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
