Stanley Dewayne Young

Stanley D. Young, 61, of Davenport passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 20, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm, Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in the Runge Chapel. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Dress code for the visitation and service is casual/camouflage. Stan was born July 22, 1949 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Cecil and Genevieve (Gillespie) Young. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. On January 26, 1974 he married Patty Ann, the love of his life. She preceded him in death on March 14, 1995.

He retired from LaFarge Cement in 2010, following thirty-eight years of service.

His memberships included the Davenport Moose and Eagles Lodges, VFW, DU, and Waterfowl USA. He was a lifetime member of the West End and the NRA, an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time with his family and many, many friends on the river, on his bike, or in the garage.

Survivors include his sons: Dewey, Luke, and Dipple and daughters-in-law Amy and Regina, all of Davenport; grandchildren Justus and Lily Young; his mother Genevieve Young, and siblings: Barney, Eugene, Cherlyn, Irwin, and Terry Lee. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father.
