Sue was born in Davenport in 1945, to Royce H & Margaret E. (Turner) Blott. She was a graduate of Davenport Central High School and attended the University of Iowa where she met Cecil Chapman through mutual friends. She married Cec on June 5, 1965 in Davenport. She was a loving wife, sister, mother of two daughters, and grandmother to one grandson.

She was a caring, loving person who always put others first. Her quick wit and sense of humor made you want to be around her; and she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a great giver of advice, even when you didn’t ask for it or think you needed it…mom’s always right! She had a love of the outdoors and wildlife. She particularly loved bird watching and gardening where she cultivated a green thumb over the years. She was an avid antique collector with a large Depression glass collection, amongst many things! She loved shopping and had a nose for a good bargain. She enjoyed reading and was an amazing cook. She was a long time member of the Iowa Beta Alpha Master Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi service sorority where she made many lifelong friends. She was a great seamstress and helped make curtains for Habitat for Humanity. Her pride and joy was her grandson, Thomas. She loved attending his many activities, playing games, and doing fun little things with him whenever they were together.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Cec; her daughters Lynne Chapman of Des Moines, IA, Beth (Tim) Meyer, and one grandson Thomas, of Clear Lake, IA; her brother Jim Blott of Sugar Land, TX; her sister-in-law Carolyn and Kenny Mann of Chesterfield, MO; and her niece JoAnn McMinn of Rosenberg, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law Betty Blott.

The family would like to thank the staff of Genesis Hospice for the loving care they provided to Sue.

I knew Sue in high school. I was class of 64. When the gals in Eldridge decided that they wanted to start a Beta Sigma Phi Chapter, my sister-in-law and I worked with them to get started. We had a few years of experience already. Sue and I had this opportunity to become better acquainted. We had so much fun attending their meetings that first year. My deepest sympathy to all of the family. Sue will be greatly missed.

Dear Cecil and Family,
Sue was a wonderful friend and big sister to me when we were in high school together at Davenport Central. She in the class of 1963 and I in the class of 1964. I spent many days at the Blott home getting sage advice and love from Sue and her mother and I have often thought how fortunate I was to have such a special friend during those years. She even invited me up to Iowa City for a weekend after she left for U of I......oh boy, what memories!
Unfortunately, we lost contact after I married and moved to San Diego, California and Clark and I started our own family with two sons and three grandchildren.
I send my sincerest condolences and hope that the memories of your wonderful years together will bring you joy and contentment.

I graduated with Susan from Davenport Central High School. I lost touch with my Davenport friends after I married and moved away.. We moved back to Davenport in 1979. I remember Susan as a kind, fun loving person. You have my sympathy. I received word this morning that one of my relatives only has a few more days to live, so reading Susan's obituary really had a strong impact on me. I feel my age and wish I could have retained a closer relationship with my old friends. She was a dear person.
